How to Customize a Facebook Friend List

Facebook is an easy way to connect with lots of people. Unfortunately, it's also an easy way to amass friends who you don't care to keep in close touch with. If you have particular friends that you want to keep closer tabs on, you can use Facebook's lists feature. By customizing lists, you can add friends you know well on your "Close Friends" list, and keep other friends on the "Acquaintance" list. By doing this, you'll see more status updates from people you're close with, and fewer status updates from acquaintances.

Log in to your Facebook account, then click the "Home" button.

Locate the "Friends" link; if you don't see it, click the "More" link at the bottom of the column. After locating the "Friends" link, click the "More" button on the same line. This will take you to your lists.

Click the list that you want to edit, such as "Acquaintances," "Close Friends" or "Family." This will automatically take you to the list page.

Click the "Manage List" button, then click "Edit List" from the drop-down menu. A pop-up window will appear.

Click the button in the upper left-hand corner of the "Edit Friends" window, and then select "Friends" from the drop-down menu. Click any friends that you want to add to the list.

Deselect friends or remove them from your list by clicking friends who are already highlighted. If their profile picture is no longer highlighted with a check mark, then they have been removed from the list. Click "Finish" when you're done customizing your list to save your changes.
