Make Your Mark

The all-new HR-V is both sleek and spacious. Its athletic stance and flowing body lines create a dynamic sense of movement even at a standstill, and its refined interior offers a surprisingly generous cargo area.

The Honda HR-V is one of the most athletic, sophisticated, and versatile crossovers on the market. With a lineage that dates back to 1998, this Hondahas set a name for itself in the SUV segment. Also nicknamed ‘Honda Vezel’ in the Japanese market, Honda HR-V crossover is now in its second-generation run, competing with the likes of the Subaru Crosstrek, the Jeep Renegade, and the Mazda CX-3.

The 2023 Honda HR-V model recently made its US debut, and is making its way to dealerships this month. For its second-generation run, the redesigned Honda HR-V returns with a slew of major and minor upgrades that are worth looking at. This time around, the 2023 Honda HR-V takes the style quotient to a whole new level, flaunting a striking new look and a striking grille that instantly draws everyone in. The exterior styling also includes a lower horizontal waistline and a sleek roofline, to take on the influx of stylish small SUVs that continue to flood the market.

You can also have the 2023 Honda HR-V in new color options that include Milano Red, Modern Steel Metallic, Urban Gray, and Nordic Forest Pearl. Also, the HR-V is much larger than its predecessors. This means the families will love the larger cabin, with notched-up headroom and legroom alike while taking advantage of its enlarged cargo area.

We give you an insight into the second-gen Honda HR-V, shedding more light on its design, powertrain, and technology. Here's a look at our favorite features of the 2023 Honda HR-V.

The 2023 Honda HR-V Has A Fresh Face

Honda’s smallest crossover, the Honda HR-V, is now longer and wider than its predecessors. To offer a new perspective, the new HR-V comes with a redesigned profile that boasts its bold and sporty character. For the 2023 model year, the grille is smaller, but for the first time, it features a stretched, honeycomb-themed mesh for added distinction.

Its headlights have been reshaped. Underneath them, is a unique orange light ribbon that adds personality to the front end. Like the front, the rear fascia adds reshaped taillights, a black bumper, and a tailgate spoiler. From the 2022 model’s 170.4-inch length, the new HR-V is now 9.8 inches longer, at 179.8 inches. Its wheelbase has also grown from 102.8 to 104.5 inches, making it about 1.7 inches longer.

Still a small growth, but it's there nonetheless. For a cleaner appeal, the Honda HR-V is also equipped with special laser-brazed technology, which eliminates the need for unsightly roof moldings. We also love its new windshield wipers, which are hidden under the hood when not in use. It also comes with a sculpted hatch.

You'll also become fond of the horizontal beltline that begins at the extended hood and continues over to the rear fenders, giving a sense of movement and progress. The LX and EX-L trims come with 17-inch alloys. The bigger 18-inch gloss-black alloy wheels, however, are standard on the HR-V Sport trim.

2023 HR-V Churns Out Ample Ponies With A New Engine

The 2023 Honda HR-V has an improved power output, thank it’s a more potent 2.0-liter inline-4 engine, which produces 158 horsepower and 138 lb-ft of torque. This is the same engine that you’ll find under the hood of the Civic, where it serves as a base powertrain. On the HR-V, this new (or not so new) motor replaces the 2022 model’s 1.8-liter four-cylinder engine, which made 141 ponies and 127 lb-ft of peak torque.

This means you should expect a better throttle response, improved acceleration, and more pulling power on the 2023 Honda HR-V. Currently, the engine sends power to the standard front-wheel drive through a continuously variable automatic transmission (CVT). You will be glad to know that an all-wheel-drive arrangement is available for all trims.

To spice up its performance, the Honda HR-V features a new and standard independent rear suspension, which replaces the rear-axle beam suspension system offered on previous models. This gives you a smoother and enhanced ride quality.

While the HR-V subcompact SUV has received design and power improvements, its fuel economy hasn’t improved much. The HR-V’s all-wheel-drive consumes the most, about 25 MPG in the city and 30 MPG on the highway. If you want a better fuel economy, then settle for the front-wheel-drive configuration, which gives you 26 MPG in the city and 32 MPG on the highway.

2023 HR-V Interior: Redesigned Cabin With A Plethora Of Technology Features

Like the fashionable exterior, the interior of the 2023 Honda HR-V has also been updated with a modern and futuristic touch. The HR-V also has some of the most desirable features, which, depending on the trim, include a 7-inch or 9-inch touch display screen, 3 USB ports, satellite radio, a wireless phone charging pad, Android Auto, and Apple CarPlay, and leather-upholstered seats.

To keep its occupants safe, all trims get the standard Honda Sensing® safety suite, which includes the lane-keeping assist, forward collision mitigation, and adaptive cruise control, among many others. Some of the newest features are the traffic sign recognition system, the traffic jam assist, and the multi-angle rearview camera.

Will the Honda HR-V be redesigned in 2023? Yes! The staff here at Vern Eide Honda is very excited to share with Sioux Falls car shoppers that our favorite subcompact crossover will, in fact, sport a whole new look for the 2023 model year.

What is the difference between the 2022 and 2023 Honda HR

In 2022, the Honda HR-V is outfitted with a 1.8-liter, 141-horsepower engine. A continuously variable transmission and front-wheel drive are included, and all-wheel drive is optional for all trim levels. If you opt for the 2023 HR-V, your crossover will draw 158 horsepower from a 2.0-liter engine.

What are the changes in the 2023 Honda HR

But the new generation is wider and longer, which Honda claims benefits interior space.
