Remote Desktop: Windows Setup

- On the computer that you want to remote to, in the search bar on the bottom left, search forRemote Settings.
- In the search results, clickRemote Desktop Settings.
- ARemote Desktopwindow will appear.
- Turn onEnable Remote Desktop.
- Check Keep my PC awake for connections when it is plugged in.
- Check Make my PC discoverable.
- In the search bar on the bottom left, search forComputer Name.
- In the search results, clickView your PC name. AnAboutwindows appears.
- UnderDevice Specificationslook forDevice Name.
- Write down theDevice Name, as you will need it later.
- On thecomputer that you want to remote from, do the following:
- In the search bar on the bottom left, search forRemote Desktop Connection.
- In the search results, clickRemote Desktop Connection.ARemote Desktop Connectionwindow will appear.
- Click the button next toShow Optionson the bottom left of the window.
- In the Computer field, type yourDevice Namefrom your desktop computer.
- In the User name field typeUTHSC\Your NetID.
- Finally, clickSave As, name it, and save it on the desktop.
- Note the following:
- You must be on campus OR connected toVPNto use the Remote Desktop featureto connect to your work computer.
- The first time you connect to your work PC remotely, you will get a warning window. [See below.]Check the box next toDont ask me again for connections to this computerand click the Yes button.
