Toshiba Laptop keeps restarting after recovering to out-of-box condition

I decided to reboot my laptop back to it's original factority condition. After running the 4 CD recovery files, the computer will load up to my desktop, run a configuration process, say it's rebooting because of the configuration, and then start the process all over again.

I tried exiting out of the configuration process, as well as trying to stop it through the Task Manager, but nothing seems to work. Does anyone have any tips on how to solve this problem? If you need to know, it's a Toshiba Satellite L-500 series.

That's... what... Toshiba... recovery... does...

I don't know why, but when I did the recovery dance with my Toshiba Qosmio laptop it spent about three hours rebooting before it finally finished. I think it boots up, installs a single driver or application and then reboots to install the next one... guess it's easier than testing to ensure that it can install them all in one go.

if you can remember was this problem happening when the desktop boots up and instantly there is a full screen installation process that you cant exit and it says "finishing installation, do not interrupt or shut down, e.t.c" ??

I would agree with the above. You need to wait out the "update reboot cycle".

Then once that is all complete, perform all Windows updates, install 3rd party software that you normally need and then install backup software of your choice to create a system image to an external harddrive.

Next time a "recovery" is needed use the system image. Never go back to the Toshiba disks unless you are donating the laptop to a new owner.
