How to remove XFCE desktop environment

To uninstallxfce4just follow these instructions.

Uninstall justxfce4

/ubuntu/xenial/universe///install/index.html Meta-package for the Xfce Lightweight Desktop Environment Ubuntu 16.04 LTS universe/x11 4.12.2

sudo apt-get remove xfce4

Which will remove just thexfce4package itself.

Uninstallxfce4and its dependencies

sudo apt-get remove --auto-remove xfce4

This will remove thexfce4package and any other dependant packages which are no longer needed.

Purging your config/data too

If you also want to delete your local/config files forxfce4then this will work.

Caution! Purged config/data can not be restored by reinstalling the package.

sudo apt-get purge xfce4

Or similarly, like thisxfce4

sudo apt-get purge --auto-remove xfce4
