Netbooks make excellent tools to keep your employees connected and productive while traveling. Compared to many tablet PCs, however, some netbooks are power hungry and have relatively short battery lives. Netbook manufacturers like Asus let you save power by turning off the Wi-Fi adapter when it is not needed. You can either enable or disable Wi-Fi for an Asus netbook by changing settings in the BIOS or Basic Input Output System or by pressing a special "Hot" key while your netbook is running.

Turn on your Asus Netbook. If your netbook is already on, click the "Start" button, click the arrow next to the "Shut Down" button and then click "Restart."

Wait for the Asus Netbook BIOS screen to appear, then press the "F2" key.

Press the "Right" arrow to scroll over to the "Advanced" tab.

Press the "Down" arrow until you reach the "Onboard Devices Configuration" option. Press the "Enter" key.

Press the "Down" arrow to "Onboard WLAN" then press the "Enter" key.

If the "Disabled" option is highlighted, press the "Up" arrow to highlight the "Enabled" option, then press the "Enter" key.

Press the "F10" key. Press the "Enter" key to save your changes and exit the BIOS.

Turn on your Asus Netbook.

Log in to your operating system.

Press the blue "FN" key and the "F2" key simultaneously, then release. This key combination is the Hot key to toggle the Wi-Fi adapter on or off. Your netbook's Wi-Fi indicator should light up when the adapter is turned on.
