  • Say hello to Patrick Happel! He's our new Software Engineer III on the Machine Systems team 👋 Where will you be working from? ➡️ I'll be working from home in Boulder, Colorado. What are your hobbies outside of work? ➡️ Hiking and camping in the nearby mountains, watching movies and reading books that give a window into other lives, and brewing beer on the rare occasions I can find the time. What are you looking forward to in your new role? ➡️ I'm looking forward to learning all I can about the CAM industry and the machinery involved in it. I can't wait to get to know my new team and work closely with them!

Mastercam 2023 has been revealed, featuring new toolpaths, a more organised setup, and a more intuitive interface.

This latest update of the CAD and CAM software, which had been tested by manufacturer at the Public Beta Program before its release, was designed to expand and consolidate several toolpaths.

The new Unified Multiaxis toolpath should bring together Morph, Parallel, Along Curve, and Project Curve strategies into a single interface, delivering expanded and flexible cutter path creation.

The Unified toolpath was introduced to allow for more flexibility in cut pattern when programming in Multiaxis.

Mastercam 2023 also features a new toolpath to the Turning suite for the Mill-Turn product.

B-Axis Contour Turning is a finishing toolpath that was introduced to allow for rotation of the B-axis while the tool is cutting. The toolpath should feature a top-down workflow and provide user with either automatic or manual motion control.

Thanks to this new toolpath, areas that would have taken multiple tools and resulted in blends should now be possible with one single toolpath and result in superior finish, fewer tool changes, and less cycle time.

Mastercam says the 2023 update was also developed to detect undercut stock when machining. The addition of OptiRough and Area Roughing toolpaths should result in improvement to the toolpath motion, including less air cutting.

Mastercam 2023 also features a new Machine Group Setup function panel for Mill and Router machine groups. This panel should encompasse features and functionality from the Machine Group properties dialog box, including new features.

Machine Group Setup should provide a clean, modern interface to define stock, material properties, workholding, tools, and simulation settings making accessing all of the critical components of setting up a job, from stock to simulation, smoother and more organised.
