Hey guys, is the NEW remote desktop app from the MS Store capable of utilizing multiple monitors? I can't find anything related to that in the app's settings or in the settings for the remote machine. For clarity, I mean this new remote desktop app: Popular Topics in Microsoft Remote Desktop Services

No. You can't see a single remote session on multiple monitors, as apps from the Windows Store (like the Remote Desktop app) can only be opened on one screen at a time. You can use a standard client to use multi-monitor setup. Try running
"mstsc.exe -multimon" Support for multiple monitors is available when connecting from any
Windows 7/8.1/10 computer, however, there are restrictions when
connecting to a computer using multi-monitor mode depending on the hosts OS version.

Damn, that really sucks. I know about the old client, but that one freezes randomly. Thank you, though!

Something else is wrong, then. We've got dozens of users using the mstsc.exe client for exactly this reason, via VPN. If you're seeing freezes, there are other factors affecting performance than the executable.

I thought so too, but it's not very consistent. Also freezes don't happen with the new client. If I work from home I have exactly zero problems. It only froze once after working with an Excel spreadsheet. My colleagues mourn about freezes almost every day and most of the time it only occurs when the remote desktop is doing heavy CAD stuff. Only the image freezes, but every other input is still being processed. Now, one colleague has this more times, some others don't have any problems, like me. Could be our 50mBit WAN connection, could be their connection at home.

I've anywhere from two to eight drafters working from home of late, and two mechanical engineers were on 14 day quarantine until last week. This, on top of the normal two dozen or so remote users. Any freeze ups, my CAD Manager would have been on chat banging on about it. Can you monitor your VPN connections for issues?

I can monitor the VPN connections, but the question is what to look out for. Nothing red or suspicious shows up in the firewall's traffic monitor.

Are these systems all running Windows 10? I never had a problem before the recent 2 versions of Windows 10, but now it freezes very often. Daily for sure. James

Yes, all are running Win10 1909. We pretty much fixed our freezes with the old client by applying both of these fixes together:
