Alabama football recruiting 2024

The Alabama Crimson Tide added another top prospect to its 2024 recruiting class as quarterback Julian Sayin announced that he'll be taking his talents to Tuscaloosa.

Sayin, a consensus five-star quarterback from Carlsbad, California, chose the Crimson Tide over the Georgia Bulldogs and the LSU Tigers.

He’s rated the No. 2 signal caller in the 2024 class, per the 247Sports Composite Rankings. 

During his recent day-and-a-half with the Crimson Tide, Sayin spoke with head coach Nick Saban and offensive coordinator Bill O’Brien. They told him, “This is where you want to come play quarterback.” Sayin thought about that message a lot.

It ended up being one of the reasons he committed to Alabama on Wednesday, choosing the Crimson Tide over Georgia and LSU.

Sayin is now the fourth member of Alabama’s 2024 recruiting class, joining cornerback Jaylen Mbakwe, wide receiver Perry Thompson and athlete Martavious Collins.

Alabama has an embarrassment of riches regarding quarterback recruits; the Crimson Tide already has a pair of four-star quarterbacks in the 2023 class committed to joining the program. Dylan Lonergan, a 6-foot-2, 215-pound pocket passer with a cannon, and Eli Holstein, who's growing into his 6-foot-4 frame, could eventually compete for the quarterback job after Bryce Young heads to the NFL.

One of Sayin's biggest strengths is his accuracy. He has the ability to hit receivers on the money from multiple levels and put the ball in places only the receiver can catch it. He also has a solid amount of mobility, not being a afraid to step up in the pocket or to extend plays enough to find his target.

Alabama football's 2024 recruiting class received a big boost Wednesday. The Crimson Tide landed a commitment from five-star Julian Sayin, the No. 2-rated quarterback, over LSU and Georgia.

Sayin, 6-foot-1 and 185 pounds, is the No. 14 recruit in the nation and No. 1 from California, according to the 247Sports Composite. The Carlsbad native visited the Crimson Tide this fall and is Alabama's fourth commit.

In 10 games this season, Sayin has completed 69% of his passes for 2,302 yards with 25 touchdowns. As a sophomore, he completed 72% of his passes for 2,750 yards with 34 touchdowns. Alabama wide receivers coach Holmon Wiggins was his primary recruiter and offensive coordinator Bill O'Brien was his secondary.

"Alabama is the standard for college football," Sayin said on ESPN2. "I want to be coached hard by Coach (Nick) Saban and Coach O'Brien. It's just a special place, and it's the highest level of football."

Alabama has two class of 2023 four-star quarterback commits: Georgia four-star Dylan Lonergan and Louisiana four-star Eli Holstein. Former class of 2023 five-star Ty Simpson is also on Alabama's roster.

The Crimson Tide's class of 2023 is No. 1 and features five five-stars.

Alabama's string of blue-chip quarterback commitments continued on Wednesday, with the Crimson Tide gaining a pledge from one of the top signal-callers in the Class of 2024. Julian Sayin, the top-rated quarterback recruit in California according to 247Sports, committed to the Crimson Tide over Georgia and LSU. 

"Alabama is the standard for college football," said Sayin on ESPN2. "I want to be coached by coach Nick Aaban and [offensive coordinator] Bill O'Brien."

A product of Carslbad, Sayin is a game-changing recruit for Alabama's class as the No. 3 quarterback and No. 12 overall recruit in the Top247. Though the Top247 rankings have not released five-star prospects, Sayin is five-star caliber and the No. 2 quarterback in the 2024 247Sports Composite Rankings. 

The 6-foot-1, 185-pound junior is a burgeoning superstar with 21 touchdowns and three interceptions in 10 games. His success has quickly attracted offers from nearly all of the best programs in the nation. 

Sayin's addition pushes Alabama up to the No. 5 recruiting class in the nation with four commits. He joins No. 5 overall recruit Jaylen Mbakwe, No. 28 athlete Martavious Collins and No. 81 receiver Perry Thompson in what is shaping up to be another elite recruiting class.

Alabama has been otherworldly on the quarterback recruiting front. Sayin is the fifth quarterback Saban has recruited to Alabama since 2020. Every single one has ranked among the top 85 players in the country. The last quarterback Saban recruited from California worked out pretty well; Bryce Young went to high school less than an hour away from Sayin.
