What's New

Ford has expanded the F-150’s lineup for the 2023 model year. The pickup truck is now available in a high-performance Raptor R model that comes with a supercharged V8 engine. Lower down the lineup, the XL trim is available with a new Rattler off-road package. Beyond these changes, the 2023 F-150 continues to belong to the 14th generation of the pickup truck that was introduced in 2021.

Choosing Your Ford F-150

The 2023 F-150 is available in nine trims that include: XL, XLT, Lariat, King Ranch, Platinum, Limited, Tremor, Raptor, and Raptor R. Prices range from $36,240 to $109,145. The F-150’s starting price is a substantial increase over the 2022 model year.

Engine Choices

Ford’s lineup of powertrains for the F-150 is nearly as extensive as the truck’s available trims. There are a total of seven different engines that range from a work-oriented V6 to a supercharged V8 with supercar levels of power. All engines are paired with a 10-speed automatic transmission and are available with both rear- and four-wheel drive. The amount to upgrade to a punchier engine varies depending on the trim level.

Towing capacity varies by a large margin similar to the F-150’s horsepower rating. The base V6 is rated to tow up to 8,200 pounds, while the twin-turbo 3.5-liter V6 can tow up to 14,000 pounds. The 5.0-liter V8 engine tops out at 13,000 pounds with the hybrid falling slightly behind with a towing capacity of 13,000 pounds.

CarsDirect Tip

With so many available trims, packages, and powertrains, narrowing a perfect 2023 Ford F-150 down is difficult. For most people that plan to use their trucks every day, the Lariat with the available Lariat High equipment group is a great option. The twin-turbo 3.5-liter V6 stands out as the best choice for consumers that need to tow large cargo regularly. While the new Raptor R is attractive, we think most people will find the regular Raptor to be more than enough truck for high-speed off-roading.
