Last week I installed Windows 10 from my old HDD to a new SSD. For the most part I don't have issues, but when I went to download mods for a game, I ran into a problem. I downloaded the mods, which were .7z files, and then when extracting them with 7Zip I got this data error, every single time. I have tried older versions of 7Zip and I've tried WinRAR also but to no avail. While extracting with 7Zip I get a "content error" (don't know what it is in English) and WinRAR says there was a checksum error.

What could be the cause of this issue?

• Just as Igor said, it's most likely a corrupted download, which may be caused by several reasons. Probably the file on the server is corrupted, or your internet connection is really flaky. Try downloading a different Zip/7z file from a completely different server (not the game mods) in order to be able to narrow down where the fault is.

  • The only 7z files I've ever downloaded are from the mod site. What other places would have 7z files?

• Download same or another files again.

  • I've tried. Different browsers didn't help either.

You can download a 7z file directly from the 7Zip website, and see if you can unzi it successfully. If you can, then the mod files are definitely corrupted, try finding a mirror server. https://www.7-zip.org/a/7z1900-extra.7z

I didn't get any errors with that file. Maybe it is the internet connection that's faulty. Thank you!
