I Can't Figure Out How to Open the Files on My Android
By David Wayne Related
The Android operating system is an open platform with relatively few restrictions on using it to store files. While you can access downloaded files from the Downloads application, you need a third-party file browser to open files stored in other locations. Show
Access to Your File SystemWhen you download email attachments or files from the Internet, they're stored in the Download directory on your SD card, and you can view them by tapping All Apps and selecting Downloads. Tapping a file opens its associated application; for example, tapping a PDF opens a document viewer, if you have one on your device. To access files transferred via USB to other folders on your device, open the Play Store and download a file browser, such as ES File Explorer, Android File Manager or Astro File Manager (links in Resources). These programs display your device's contents in a folder view similar to File Explorer in Windows. Your files are immediately visible when you open the file browser, and you can open a file in its associated application by tapping the file. References
